Historical Background

“Call upon Him while He is near”
Seeking God involves prayer, worship, and complete dependence upon Him. Those who sincerely call upon the Lord will find Him faithful and merciful.
“Let the wicked forsake his way”
True repentance requires turning away from sinful actions. God calls people not only to acknowledge their sin but also to leave their sinful lifestyle behind.
“And the unrighteous man his thoughts”
Repentance begins in the heart. God desires transformed thinking as well as transformed living. Our attitudes, motives, and desires should be brought into obedience to Him.
“Let him return to the LORD”
God’s invitation is always one of restoration. No matter how far a person has wandered, God welcomes those who sincerely return to Him.
